Carmelo and Filomena Ippolito began selling local fresh fruit and vegetables to farmers markets in Guelph and Hamilton, Ontario in the 1930’s. The pair incorporated Ippolito Fruit & Produce limited in 1946 and the Queen Victoria® brand was born in a nod to the patriotism gripping the country following the war, and to celebrate Canada’s Monarch. In time, their son joined the organization, and today, no less than four generations of Ippolitos have helped the business in its evolution.
In 1996 Ippolito Fruit and Produce opened its first leafy green processing line in its 100,000 square foot facility at 1032 Howard Road in Burlington, Ontario, and moved its Head Office from Hamilton to Burlington. Today, this facility houses our icing operation which is part of our specialty services division.
In 2005 Ippolito Fruit and Produce moved to its 100,000 square foot campus on North Service Road in Burlington Ontario which in addition to becoming the new Head Office, also became the new home for a state-of-the-art leafy green processing line, warehouse and packing operation which remains in operation today. Our sister company Ippolito Transportation inc. is co-located with us, offering our customers unparalleled access to sophisticated logistics solutions.
In 2016 an additional leafy green processing line opened at our 72,000 square foot facility at 1060 Howard Road in Burlington providing unsurpassed capacity to serve our customers across Eastern Canada and the North Eastern U.S. Our value-add processing presence in Eastern Canada offers our customers the competitive advantages of up to four days superior shelf life than products packed in Western U.S., in addition to the flexibility of having your supplier close for those last-minute order adds.
Today Ippolito Fruit & Produce is a member of the Ippolito group of companies, a vertically integrated group who plant, nurture, grow and process our own products, while supporting our local farming community.
